Barend Botha

Barend is a chemical Engineer by trade and a technical consultant by trade.

Barend grew up in the south of Joburg, South Africa. He attended Leeuwenhof Akademie for pre-school, primary school and highschool. He graduated in 2013 with 5 distinctions. During his time at school he would participate in various sports including rugby, swimming, athletics, chess and tennis. He adopted tennis as his permanent sport and played it for more than 12 years. He would play national and provincial level tournaments with some quarterfinal appearances as highlights

Barend attended the University of Pretoria (aka Tuks) where he would finish his Bachelors in Chemical Engineering (BEng) in 4 years. There his passion for coding and mathematics ignited. He enjoyed expressing mathematical equations and systems in code. He learned how to fit parameters of polynomials to various curves essentially kick-starting his ML career.
